The 1910s–1930s – The first police schools. The first Swedish police school was established 1910 in Uppsala, and it provided a nine-week-long basic education. This was a private institution run by the police commissioner of the town, but the school also received some funding from the state, the town of Uppsala and from the police union. In my current role as a Swedish police officer, some of the many skills I exercise on a daily basis are strong written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence and attention-to-detail. These skills have allowed me to effectively navigate high-risk situations and negotiate a desirable outcome for all parties involved.
